CONVOY HX 103
Departed Halifax on Jan. 15-1941 and arrived Liverpool on Febr. 1.
Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 11 ships in this convoy.
When subtracting Empire Shearwater, this number agrees with what can be found in the table below.
(Will be updated - please compare with A. Hague's listing for this convoy at ships in all HX convoys. See also HX escorts).
Transcribed from several documents received from Roger Griffiths - His source: Public Records Office, Kew. A 1 form is not available to me, therefore, I don't know the station numbers of these ships, except for the Bermuda section (A 1 form received from Tony Cooper, England). The ships are listed in the order in which they appear on the various documents. MOWT = Ministry of War Transport |

* Empire Shearwater (Captain R. F. Hellings) parted company in 39 18N 57 24W at 10:00 on Jan. 16 and proceeded to Halifax, due to fractured plate resulting in water in No. 1 hold. She's listed as sailing in station 52 of Convoy HX 111 with a note saying "from HX 103", so it looks as though she didn't get away until the end of Febr. Athelfoam (Rear Commodore, Captain R. F. Notman) took over as Vice Commodore of BHX 103. Daily noon position of BHX 103 is available on request, via address provided at the bottom of this page. |
