CONVOY SC 85

Departed Sydney, C.B. on May 29-1942 and arrived Liverpool on June 12.
(Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 60 ships)

The Rescue Vessel Bury (requisitioned on Aug. 14-1941) was also with this convoy. She was on her 4th voyage as such, having started this voyage from Clyde on May 7-1942 with the westbound Convoy ON 92 - to St. John's, May 16 in order to land several survivors from torpedoed ships (follow link for further details). She then sailed with CL 39 from St. John's to Halifax (May 17-May 19), subsequently with HS 5 from Halifax to Sydney, C.B (May 24-May 26), joining Convoy SC 85 to return to Clyde, May 29-June 12.

Notes:
Commodore Rear Admiral C. E. Turtle was in Empire Bunting, Vice Commodore was Captain Wilson (U.S.N.) in Mattole.
