CONVOY HX 299
Departed New York City on July 11-1944 and arrived Liverpool on the 24th.
Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 85 ships in this convoy.

Transcribed from several documents received from Roger Griffiths - His source: Public Records Office, Kew.

Crossed out ships did not sail, underlined ships returned to port.
A 1 form is not available to me and, therefore, I don't know the station numbers for these ships.

Notes:
Commodore J. K. Brook R.N.R. was in Norwegian Laurits Swenson, Vice Commodore was H. D. Wakeman-Colville R.N. in Norwegian Høyanger. Commodore's notes are not available.

The Rescue Vessel Aboyne (requisitioned June 24-1943) was on her 5th voyage as such, having started this voyage from Clyde with the westbound Convoy ON 241 on June 18, to Halifax June 30 - returning with HX 299 from Halifax July 13, to Clyde July 23. "Convoy Rescue Ships 1940-1945", Arnold Hague states that a Swordfish from the Dutch Gadila, listed in the table above, crashed on this voyage - 3 survivors were recovered by Aboyne.

Please note that more information on all the Norwegian ships listed in this convoy can be found with the help of the index below.

Liberty Ships - Website such as this, and the 2 below are very handy for checking spelling of the ships (convoy docs don't always have the correct spelling, or they may be difficult to decipher). A great deal of the ships listed as American in the table above were Liberty ships. This website lists them alphabetically.
Fort (+ Ocean & Park) ships

Empire ships - The site also lists "Sam"-ships and other Liberty ships that came under the British flag.
