CONVOY HX 297
Departed New York City on June 24-1944 and arrived Liverpool July 11.
Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 116 ships in this convoy.

Transcribed from several documents received from Roger Griffiths - His source: Public Records Office, Kew.

(Crossed out ships did not sail, underlined ships returned to port).
A 1 form is not available to me and, therefore, I don't know the station numbers for these ships.

For info, some of the ships in this convoy are listed in the Arctic Convoys section of this website.

Notes:
Commodore Rear Admiral E. O. Cochrane was in Norwegian Brimanger, Vice Commodore was Vice Admiral S. S. Bonham-Carter in Empire Sunbeam. Commodore's notes are not available.

The Rescue Vessel Bury was on her 16th voyage as such, having started this voyage at Clyde with the westbound Convoy ON 239 on June 3-1944, to Halifax June 19, returning with HX 297 from Halifax June 26, to Clyde July 10.

Please note that more information on all the Norwegian ships listed in this convoy can be found with the help of the index below.

Liberty Ships - Before I upload a convoy, I always sheck the spelling of each ship, either by using my misc. books, or by using this website and the 2 listed below, then make the necessary adjustments (convoy docs don't always have the correct spelling, or they may be difficult to decipher). A great deal of the ships listed as American in the table above were Liberty ships. This website lists them alphabetically.
Fort (+ Ocean & Park) ships

Empire ships - The site also lists "Sam"-ships and other Liberty ships that came under the British flag.
