CONVOY HX 295
Departed New York on June 10-1944 and arrived Liverpool on the 24th.
Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 80 ships in this convoy.

Transcribed from several documents received from Tony Cooper - His source: Public Records Office, Kew.

Crossed out ships did not sail, underlined ships returned to port.

A 1 form is not available and, therefore, the station numbers are not known.

For info, a few of these ships later joined Convoy JW 59 - see also my Arctic Convoys page for returns.

Notes:
Commodore, Rear Admiral R. M. King was in Elisabeth Bakke, Vice Commodore was Captain Sir A. L. Owens, R.N.R. in Macharda.

The Rescue Vessel Rathlin was on her 19th voyage as such, having started this voyage from Clyde on May 19-1944 with the westbound Convoy ON 237, to Halifax June 1, then returned to Clyde with Convoy HX 295, June 12-June 24. Her next voyage was with Convoy JW 59 from Loch Ewe to Kola, returning with Convoy RA 60 - see my Arctic Convoys page ("Convoy Rescue Ships 1940-1945", Arnold Hague).

Commodore's notes are not available - escorts not known.

All the Norwegian ships in this convoy are discussed on this website - use alphabet index below to find them.

Empire Ships - Also listed in alphabetical order. The site also has a section listing the "Sam"-ships (some of which sailed in Convoy HX 295) and other Liberty ships.
