Notes: *For Barrwhin, A. Hague has a note saying "onward to Swansea", adding that she straggled from July 29 to Aug. 6. Malmanager detached to Iceland on Aug. 6. ** British Corporal and Rajahstan returned to port. British Corporal joined HX 144 while Rajahstan joined the next convoy, HX 142 (will be added, in the meantime, see A. Hague's listing for this convoy at Ships in all HX convoys). A. Hague lists the following 16 escorts (extracted from this page showing HX convoys escorts. Also received from Don Kindell, whose own work, covering "Royal & other Navies Day-by-Day in World War 2" can be viewed at this external website): |

Received from Tony Cooper, England - his source: Public Records Office, Kew. |
Newfoundland Escorts: U.K. Escorts: According to these records the convoy had 62 ships when sailing from Halifax. On Aug. 6 the Norwegian Malmanger left the convoy escorted by Primrose and Alberni to Iceland, arriving on the 7th (this agrees with her Voyage Record for this period). Will be added: HX 142 |
