** Bruarfoss was detached on Sept. 19, arrived Reykjavik on the 21st. * Evanger was detached to Convoy ON 17 (for info, she had previously arrived the U.K. with Convoy HX 144, as had Chepo and Helenus). Also in this convoy (station numbers not known): |
Notes: The Rescue Vessel Zaafaran was on her 9th voyage as such, having started this voyage from Clyde on Sept. 14-1941, detached from ON 16 on Sept. 20, then returned to Clyde with Convoy HX 149, Sept. 20-Sept. 25. Erna III, on a voyage from Swansea (left Sept. 11) and Milford Haven (left Sept. 12) for Montreal in ballast, became a straggler - last reported about Sept. 21 in heavy weather. Believed torpedoed and sunk by U-562 on Sept. 22-1941. She had a crew of 25 and 2 gunners, all of whom were lost. ("Lloyd's War Losses", Vol. II and R.W. Jordan suggest sinking date was Sept. 25). Escorts (also received from Don Kindell, whose own work, covering "Royal & other Navies Day-by-Day in World War 2" can be viewed at this website): Related external links: All the Norwegian ships in this convoy are included on this website.
