* There was no Norwegian ship by this name - there was, however, a British Meigle.

Norwegian had been cancelled from the slow Convoy SC 69.

Additionally, according to a note for Convoy SC 70, Empire Day, sailing in that convoy, had originally been scheduled for HX 175.

James Hawson had returned to port from Convoy HX 174.

Comparing the diary with a list of ships in Convoy HX 175 found at Ships in all HX convoys, based on A. Hague's database, we find that he has not included Meigle or Citadelle in this convoy (perhaps these ships left port that day for other reasons than to join HX 175?). On the other hand, he has listed a ship that is not mentioned in the diary, namely:
** The American Norvana in station 44 (2677 gt), general cargo, bound for Iceland - note, however, that according to Uboat.net, this ship had been sunk the previous month, see this external page.
He says Norefjord returned to port (see also HX 169). She's listed in the next convoy, HX 176.
The unnamed ship in station 73 is listed as the British Donax, cargo of benzine
He says Bruarfoss was detached on Febr. 23 and arrived Reykjavik Febr. 26. Fjallfoss was also detached for Iceland on Febr. 23.

Notes:
According to Uboat.net, the British Kars had become a straggler from this convoy and was torpedoed by U-96 on Febr. 22-1942 - ref. external link at the end of this page for more details. As can be seen in the table above, this ship is not mentioned in HX 175.

The ships left port in the following sequence (according to the diary):
The first to leave at 10:40 was the Norwegian James Hawson followed by the British Norwegian (Flagship) at 11:15, then with a few minutes between each ship the British Pomella, San Delfino, Cairnesk (crated aircraft, blue paint on anything in line of posts) and Charles F. Meyer, the Dutch Barendrecht, the British Catapult freighter Empire Eve (minus Hurricane), the British liner Empire Bittern ("B" flag, 5 masts), the Norwegian Brant County (2 stacks in centre), an unnamed British tanker (73 - as mentioned, this was Donax), the Dutch Tibia, the Norwegian Brasil (left convoy off the Tower, but rejoined about an hour and a half later), Andrea Brøvig and Olaf Bergh (cancelled, joined HX 176), the British British Destiny, Ocean Voice, San Emiliano, Lochkatrine (crated planes) and British Prestige, the Dutch Blitar (crown and anchor on white in Dutch flag), the Norwegian Leiv Eiriksson, the Icelandic Bruarfoss, Norwegian Norefjord (returned, joined HX 176), Icelandic Fjallfoss, British Empire Emerald, Norwegian Meigle (as mentioned, this must be an error), Citadelle (no nationality is given, but there was a British ship by this name) and Franche-Comté.

A. Hague names the following escorts (extracted from this list of HX convoy escorts, also received from D. Kindell; dates are European style, day/month/year):
Camellia - From 23/02/42 to 25/02/42
