When comparing the above with A. Hague's listing for Convoy SC 131 at Ships in all SC convoys, we see that he has listed Blenheim as American. *The ship in station 62 is listed as British Nurjehan, general cargo and explosives. **His info otherwise agrees on the whole with the diary, except he has not included LST 15 and LST 65 in this convoy. Instead he has LST 13 in station 84 and LST 63 in station 35, both with general cargo. However, I'm wondering if his info re LST 13 is a typing error, as he has also included this ship in the next convoy, SC 132. Hague has listed LST 200 in station 74, while the Norwegian Snar has been given station 11. |
Notes: The Commodore was in Helencrest. All the cancelled ships are listed in the next convoy. According to the original documents for Convoy HX 238, the American George H. Williams had been scheduled for that convoy, but did not sail. A. Hague names the following escorts (extracted from this list of SC convoy escorts, also received from D. Kindell; dates are European style, day/month/year): To the next SC convoy in my list SC 132 |
