Commodore was in Samaritan, Vice Commodore in William D Byron, and Rear Commodore in Empire Garrick. Egerø and Laurelwood were escort oilers. The convoy arrived the Clyde with navigation lights on - no incidents during the passage. This was the last convoy from Russia (some individual ships sailed later that summer, named on the page Post War sailings from Russia). Rathlin was on her 24th and last voyage as Rescue Vessel, having started this voyage from Clyde on May 13 with Convoy JW 67, to Kola Inlet May 20, then returned with RA 67 on May 23, to Clyde May 30-1945. On this return voyage she had on board 24 Russian passengers, officials, wives and children of the Russian Trade Mission. Escorts (same as for JW 67): Source for the information on this page: Convoys to Russia 1941-1945, Bob Ruegg/Arnold Hague, 1992, and "Convoy Rescue Ships 1940-1945", Arnold Hague, 1998. |
