The Advance Sailing Telegram has given the designation QP 12A to the 3 ships Southgate, Empire Morn (CAM) and Cape Race. Hegira and Kuzbass joined the next convoy, QP 13. |
Commodore was in Southgate, Vice Commodore in Cape Race. There were no attacks on Convoy QP 12 (the Germans being occupied with the inward Convoy PQ 16 - ref. external link below). However, Empire Morn's Hurricane pilot was killed when his parachute failed to open as he ditched alongside the convoy, after having shot down a shadower on May 25.
