CONVOY MKS 37

The Advance Sailing Telegram for the Gibraltar-U.K. convoy gives sailing date as Jan. 21-1944, arrival Clyde Febr. 3.

Arnold Hagues gives departure Gibraltar on Jan. 22-1944, MKS 37 joining up with Convoy SL 146 from Freetown on Jan. 23, arrived Liverpool on Febr. 2. He adds that MKS 37 had left Port Said on Jan. 10, arriving Gibraltar on the 22nd.

This first table shows the Gibraltar-U.K. convoy. As can be seen in the second table on this page, some of these ships had previously arrived with the Port Said convoy.

Additionally, the Rescue Vessel Copeland was with this convoy. She was on her 27th voyage as such, having started this voyage from Clyde on Jan. 4-1944 with Convoy OS 64 / KMS 38 (available at the external link below), to Gibraltar Jan. 17, returning to Clyde with Convoy SL 146 / MKS 37, Jan. 22-Febr. 2. Her next voyage was to Russia with Convoy JW 57, returning with Convoy RA 58, before heading to Halifax with Convoy ON 238, going back to Clyde with HX 296. ("Convoy Rescue Ships 1940-1945", Arnold Hague).

As mentioned, Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" says that MKS 37 left Port Said on Jan. 10-1944 and arrived Gibraltar on the 22nd.
