departed Halifax on Sept. 28-1941 and arrived Liverpool on Oct. 14 (Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 58 ships). |

List received from from T. Agar (His source: A diary, which lists ships joining from Halifax only).
Cargoes have been extracted from a document received from D. Kindell, based on the late Arnold Hague's database - see his listing for HX 152 at Ships in all HX convoys. For info, some of the ships in this convoy later returned with the westbound Convoy ON 30. See also ON 32 and ON 34. Br=British, Norw=Norwegian, Gr=Greek, Du=Dutch, Sw=Swedish, Am=American |

Additionally, the British Clan Cameron was scheduled for station 13, but instead joined the next convoy, HX 153.
* The Norwegian Evita returned to port (Sydney, C.B.), then joined Convoy SC 48. (Drammensfjord is listed as cancelled from that convoy). Also, the British Marietta E sailing in SC 48, is said to have come from HX 152. The diary also mentions the British Orduña, saying she joined the convoy at sea, no station number (A. Hague has given her station 37, general cargo). Some ships have been given the same station number in the diary, hence my question marks. According to A. Hague, Beth was indeed in station 44, Alexia was in station 34, British Tenacity in station 94, while Bayano has been given station 63. *When comparing this information with A. Hague's listing for HX 152 at Ships in all HX convoys, it'll be noticed that he has included some ships that are not mentioned in the diary, as follows: He has Muncaster Castle in station 13, Benalbanach in station 14, Urbino in station 15, Barendrecht in station 85; Ceronia is listed as British. |
For more on the attck on Svend Foyn, see HX 152 - Page 2 The first ship to leave was Mataroa at 11:12 and the rest followed with a few minutes between each ship. Adrastus departed at 16:47, and after that there are 3 more ships in the list with no times attached to them, namely Fanad Head, Orduña, which joined the convoy at sea, and the Belgian Laurent Meeus, which appears to not have sailed afterall, but went out in the next convoy (HX 153). I've listed them here according to nationality, keeping the sequence of departure within each nationality. According to the diary, the British ships left in the following order: The Norwegian ships left as follows: Høegh Giant, Drammensfjord, Beth, Evita, Trondheim, Salamis and Storanger, all listed on this website - follow the links provided within the table above. The American Ozark, the Swedish Shantung (as mentioned, A. Hague has listed this ship in the previous convoy, HX 151), Vaalaren, Eknaren and Kaaparen, the Greek Dimitrios Inglessis, the Dutch Salando, Hoogkerk, Ceronia, Stad Vlaardingen and Barendrecht. A. Hague names the following escorts (extracted from this list of HX convoy escorts, also received from D. Kindell; dates are European style, day/month/year): Related external links: The Empire Ships - This convoy had quite a few Empire Ships. This website provides more information on them. To the next HX convoy in my list HX 153 |
