CONVOY HX 118
Departed Halifax on March 31-1941 and arrived Liverpool on Apr. 18.
Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" agrees with 33 ships in this convoy.

West Wauna, cargo of steel for Liverpool, also appears to have been scheduled for this convoy, but is crossed out from station 72
(not listed in the Advance Sailing Telegram). West Wauna sailed in HX 120.

Commodore Vice Admiral F. M. Austin was in Dalhousie, Vice Commodore was K. V. Instone in Geo W. McKnight.
Commodore to Liverpool: in Dan-y-Bryn.
To Bristol Channel: in Narragansett.

The convoy had 33 ships - 32 still remained at rendezvous with local escort on Apr. 14, Lulworth Hill having dropped astern on Apr. 7 and was not seen again.

Narragansett experienced engine trouble at 18:30 on Apr. 7, 42 22N 54 45W. Signalled stopped indefinitely. Rejoined at 13:30 on Apr. 12, 57 05N 31 03W.

Teakwood was detached for Reykjavik at 18:10 on Apr. 13, 61 48N 26 21W. Escorted by HMS Tulip and Hydrangea.

Commodore's comments on station keeping:
Good always. Very good for last 6 days. The best convoy I have had.

Comments on signalling:
Visual - good at first becoming very good later. The quickest and best signalling I have had.
W/T - No oscillations heard on passage.

Escort Vessels:
HMS Wolfe from 17:30 on March 31 until Apr. 13, departing in 61 50N 26 55W.
HMS Ramillies from 12:45 Apr. 3, 42 13N 52 12W, parting company at 05:30 on Apr. 10* in 58 10N 53 57W.
Also mentioned is, Surcouf until(?) 01:30 Apr. 10 - 52 07N 38W.

* Note that in the narrative for Convoy SC 27, Ramillies is said to have joined that convoy at 06:00 on Apr. 9, parting at 14:42 that same day to join HX 118.
