CONVOY CU 53
Departed New York on Jan. 3-1945 and arrived Liverpool on the 14th.
Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 33 ships in this convoy.

See also Ships in all CU convoys (includes tonnage of each ship, and year built), and Escorts for all CU convoys.

Since CU 52, the eastbound Convoys HX 329 and SC 164 had sailed. See also HX 330.

Transcribed from documents received from Tony Cooper, England - His source: Public Records Office, Kew.

The Advance Sailing Telegram gives departure New York Jan. 2.

These ships were American, except where otherwise noted.

Notes:
Comparing the above to a list of ships received from D. Kindell, based on Arnold Hague's research, I find that A. Hague has not included Surprise in this convoy.

No further details are available.

Escorts (Received from Don Kindell - His source: The late Arnold Hague's database):
USS Brister
USS Mills
USS Ramsden
USS Rhodes
USS Richey
USS Savage
USS Sellstrom
USS Thomas J. Gary
USS Winslow

They all joined on Jan. 3-1945 and left Jan. 14.
