These documents were helter-skelter and it has been difficult to sort them in the right order, but I believe the above result is correct. However, please be aware that some guessing has taken place. Please refresh this page, as I've discovered that some of the links go to the wrong documents, which have since been reorganized and renumbered.
Please compare the above voyages with Arnold Hague's Voyage Record below.
Voyage Record From Febr.-1940 to Apr.-1945:
|
(Received from Don Kindell - His source: The late Arnold Hague's database).
Follow the convoy links provided for more information on each.
Errors may exist; this could also mean that she may not have sailed in all the convoys mentioned here, even though she's listed in them. In some cases, she simply had different destinations or started out from different ports than the convoys themselves (A. Hague has often given the ports that the convoys started out in or stopped at). Also, as can be seen, this record is incomplete.

Sigrid is listed in Convoy HN 11 from Norway to the U.K. in Febr.-1940, bound for Sheernees with pulp. According to A. Hague, she returned to Norway early in March with Convoy ON 18, and at the end of that month, shortly before the German invasion of Norway, we find her in Convoy HN 22, bound for Preston with general cargo - follow the links for more info; several Norwegian ships took part in all these convoys. As will be seen when going to Page 1 of the archive documents, she left Preston again for Liverpool on Apr. 4, and was still there when war broke out in Norway on Apr. 9, leaving that same day for Swansea (where she remained for several weeks).
Apart from a couple of voyages to France that spring, Sigrid was in service around the U.K. It'll be noticed, when going to the various archive documents, that she sometimes had long stays in port.
From Page 17, we learn that she got to go home to Norway already in July-1945, making several more voyages to Norway before the year was over.
Bachke & Co. lost most of their ships to this war, namely Enid, Eldrid, Hilda, Gunvor, Gudrid (later raised) and Inger, all listed on this website (they can be found via the Ship Index - some are listed in the Homefleet). Bera and Sigrid survived, Nea was laid up, then sold after the war.
Sold in 1950 to Egon Oldendorff, Lübeck and renamed Dietrich Oldendorff. Sold in 1954 to Paulsen & Ivers Schiffahrts- und Kohlenhandels G.m.b.H., Kiel and renamed Signal. Sold in 1958 to Almwich-Harmstorf & Co., Altona/Hamburg for breaking up. (From Bachke & Co. fleet list, Finn R. Hansen).

Stavern Memorial commemoration - Engineer Arne Sigurd Aagesen is commemorated. The Norwegian text says he died on board on Jan. 2-1943 due to illness (Page 7 states that Sigrid left Loch Ewe for Methil that day).
Back to Sigrid on the "Ships starting with S" page.
Other ships by this name: Bachke & Co. later had another Sigrid, delivered in Jan.-1975, built in Gdansk, Poland, 1999 gt. Became Panamanian Nicolas in Nov.-1982, Maltese Nicolas S in 1988, Silver I 1996, Nicolas S 1997, Edarte I (Albania) 2000, Nisreen (North Korea) 2003.
Sweden and Denmark both had steamships by this name in WW II. The Swedish one struck a mine and sank on Nov. 1-1941, and the Danish one (under German control) struck a mine and sank on June 27-1943.
