Tonnage: 983 gt
Built in Larvik, Norway in 1917. Previously Røvær, Dorothea, Sjøsprøit and Spero (1933). Borch & Sønner), Drammen, Norway. From Oct.-1924 owners were Molthes Rederi A/S (Oscar & Carl Molthe), Fredrikshald, renamed Sjøsprøit. From June-1927, Skibs A/S Larvik (Leif Sandsdalen), Larvik, renamed Spero. Renamed Gaston Micard in Apr.-1933 for Sig. Årstads Rederi A/S (Sig. S. Årstad), Bergen.
Captain: Petter Andreas Berg.

(Received from Don Kindell - His source: The late Arnold Hague's database).
Follow the convoy links provided for more information on each.
I believe this record has quite a few errors. This could also mean that although she's listed in them, she may not have sailed in all the convoys mentioned here. Also, several voyages are missing.

Gaston Micard, bound for Middlesbrough, is listed in Convoy HN 6 from Norway to the U.K. in Dec.-1939/Jan.-1940. As will be seen when following the link, several Norwegian ships took part.
In Febr.-1940, we find her in Convoy OA 92, bound for Nantes. This convoy left Southend on Febr. 15 and dispersed on the 18th, Gaston Micard arriving her destination on Febr. 21 (according to A. Hague). That summer she's listed, together with the Norwegian Borgholm, Glarona, Inger, Loke (returned), Lotos and Reiaas, in Convoy OB 188, originating in Liverpool on July 23, dispersed on the 27th, Gaston Micard arriving Campbellton, N.B. on Aug. 9. A direct link to this convoy has been provided within the Voyage Record above. Her 1940 voyages are shown on Page 1 of the archive documents.
She was scheduled for the slow Sydney (C.B.)-U.K. Convoy SC 9 on Oct. 24-1940, but instead joined the next convoy on Oct. 29, SC 10, cargo of lumber for Lowestoft, where she eventually arrived, via misc. other ports, on Nov. 30. Svein Jarl and Spes were also in company.
She was otherwise mostly in service around the coast of U.K./British Channel.
Gaston Micard was one of the many Norwegian ships carrying supplies for the Normandy invasion, arriving with cargo on June 12-1944 and leaving again on the 16th, according to "Nortraships flåte".
From Page 20, we learn that she went home to Norway in the spring of 1946.
For more information on the other Norwegian ships mentioned on this page, please see the alphabet index below, or go to the Master Ship Index.
