A. Hague has also included HMS Ranpura in this convoy (station 41) - listed as cancelled from MKS 29. He has not listed the LST's in this convoy, but he does include them, with destination U.K., in the Port Said convoy below.
*Marsa, on a voyage from Oran and Gibraltar for Ardrossan with 6230 tons of iron ore, was bombed by He 177 aircraft on Nov. 21 in 46 40N 18 18W. She had a crew of 40 and 8 gunners - 1 crew was killed. She was last seen on Nov. 22 at 1:45 p.m. GMT in 46 35N 18 20W. ("Lloyd's War Losses", Vol. I & "The World's Merchant Fleets 1939", R. W. Jordan). See also my text re SL 139 / MKS 30 on my page about Mathilda (sailing in the SL portion). Escorts (received from Don Kindell, whose own work, covering "Royal & other Navies Day-by-Day in World War 2" can be viewed at this website): |
Augusta, Nov. 7-1943 As mentioned, A. Hague says in his "The Allied Convoy System" that MKS 30 left Port Said on Nov. 2-1943 and arrived Gibraltar on the 13th. Transcribed from the list of ships in MKS 30 received from Don Kindell - Source: A. Hague's own research. As can be seen in the first table on this page, some of these ships subsequently proceeded to the U.K. with the Gibraltar-U.K. convoy. |
