CONVOY MKS 30

The Advance Sailing Telegram for the Gibraltar-U.K. convoy gives sailing date as Nov. 12-1943, arrival Clyde Nov. 27.

Arnold Hague gives departure Gibraltar on Nov. 13, MKS 30 joining up with Convoy SL 139 from Freetown on Nov. 16-1943, arrival Liverpool on Nov. 26, adding that MKS 30 had started out in Port Said on Nov. 2-1943, arriving Gibraltar on the 13th.

Transcribed from documents received from Tony Cooper - His source: Public Records Office, Kew.
Station numbers were obtained from a list of ships in Convoy MKS 30 received from Don Kindell, based on A. Hague's own research.

Ships in the combined convoy SL 139 / MKS 30 are named at this external website. See also the OS / KMS convoys from the same time period (for instance, OS 56 / KMS 29 and others).

This first table shows the Gibraltar-U.K. convoy. As can be seen in the second table on this page, some of these ships had previously arrived with the Port Said convoy.

*Marsa, on a voyage from Oran and Gibraltar for Ardrossan with 6230 tons of iron ore, was bombed by He 177 aircraft on Nov. 21 in 46 40N 18 18W. She had a crew of 40 and 8 gunners - 1 crew was killed. She was last seen on Nov. 22 at 1:45 p.m. GMT in 46 35N 18 20W. ("Lloyd's War Losses", Vol. I & "The World's Merchant Fleets 1939", R. W. Jordan).
