CONVOY MKS 19
Departure date from Gibraltar is not provided, arrival Clyde is given as Aug. 9-1943.
Please note that Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" does not list a Gibraltar-U.K. convoy. He does, however, have a Convoy MKS 19 originating in Tripoli on July 21-1943, arriving Gibraltar on the 28th. |
Transcribed from a document (Advance Sailing Telegram) received from Tony Cooper - His source: Public Records Office, Kew. I believe this is an error. The document from which I've transcribed the information in this first table clearly calls it Convoy MKS 19. However, as already mentioned, Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" does not list a Gibraltar-U.K. convoy with this designation. Note also that Empire Fal and Baron Ruthven are included in the next convoy, MKS 20. Additionally, Coity Castle, Blairnevis, Baron Ramsay and Pendeen are listed in Convoy MKS 21, leaving Gibraltar for the U.K. on Aug. 14, which would indicate they could not have travelled to the U.K. with a convoy MKS 19, if it arrived Clyde on Aug. 9.
