* There seems to be some disagreement with regard to the number of casualties/survivors from this ship.
Arnold Hauge says there were no casualties, Roger Jordan states that 37 died, 10 survived.
Uboat.net gives 42 casualties, 4 survivors. The number 42 includeds the Commodore and his staff of 4.

Notes:
Arrived rendezvous Aug. 24.

The convoy was attacked by 3 U-boats, and by a number of German aircraft (between Aug. 24 and 26).

Commodore was in Harpalyce, Vice Commodore in Manchester Merchant. (The Commodore was among the casualties of Harpalyce).

* Vice Commodore says:
"The S.S. Pecten, Square 56, was torpedoed and sunk within one minute. Six survivors were picked up by S.S. Torr Head, the rescue ship. The Commanding Officer of the Escort reported that S.S. Torr Head acted with great celerity and precision in recovering the men."

All the Norwegian ships mentioned above are discussed on this website - see alphabet index below.
