* Arnold Hague has not included Taranger in this convoy. According to her voyage record, she was in Cristobal on Apr. 1-1940, leaving that day for Falmouth, with arrival Apr. 19. Hague's listing for HX 33 is available on the page naming ships in all HX convoys. |
Notes: Commodore was in City of Karachi, Vice Commodore in San Adolfo, Rear Commodore in Botavon. * Sheaf Mead is crossed out from station 33 (with an arrow going to station 15), and Dan-y-Bryn added by hand. No cargo or destination given for the latter, but A. Hague says she had a cargo of sugar. ** The destination for City of Karachi is given as Hull, then Portland is added by hand. The same destination is added by hand for Brookwood (originally London), and for Botavon. For Venetia, the typed destination is Plymouth, with Southampton added by hand. Tennessean later became the British Empire Penguin - see external link below. Ocean Escorts: HMS Ascania and Fr. S/M Beveziers. A. Hague names the following escorts (extracted from this list of HX convoy escorts received from D. Kindell; dates are European style, day/month/year): Related external link: To the next HX convoy in my list HX 34 |
