Notes: Commodore was in Kaipara, Vice Commodore in Delilian. * These 3 ships became separated from the convoy. The ship in station 82 is listed as Barnhill, should probably be Barn Hill. For info, there's mention in the Commodore's notes for Convoy HG 22, that on March 20, while HG 22 was in position 50 12N 01 22W, a message was received from a ship named Barnhill saying that she was being bombed in 50 34N 00 2W). According to the original A 1 form for this convoy, Hoperange, Bradfyne, Helmspey, and Mount Kassion did not join. Arnold Hague, however, has included all these ships. Hague's listing for HX 25 is available on the page naming ships in all HX convoys. He says Bradfyne straggled on March 6, Barn Hill and Cairnvalona on March 7, Cygnet on March 14. * The French Nevada was taken over by MoWT in June-1940 and renamed Nevada II. Ocean Escort: HMS Laconia. A. Hague names the following escorts (extracted from this list of HX convoy escorts received from D. Kindell; dates are European style, day/month/year): To the next HX convoy in my list HX 26 |
