* Torinia, Beaverdale and D. L. Harper had been cancelled from HXF 17.
According to Arnold Hague, El Mirlo became a straggler on Jan. 28, and Emmy went ashore off Barmouth (no further info); see Hague's listing for HX 17 on the page naming ships in all HX convoys. |
Notes: Commodore was in Balmoralwood, Vice Commodore in Seminole, Rear Commodore in Sulairia (Glasgow), and Dakotian (Bristol Channel). * Victor Ross became British at some point in 1940, but I'm not sure exactly when. Her nationality is given as British when she was torpedoed and sunk by U-43 on Dec. 2-1940, Convoy OB 251. Kingswood's destination is initially given as Liverpool, then London is written in parenthesis. Similarly, Seminole's destination is given as London, with Hull in Parenthesis, and Gold Shell=Falmouth, parenthesis London, Somersby=Falmouth, parenthesis illegible (possibly Milford Haven), Ena de Larrinaga=Falmouth, parenthesis Liverpool, Nailsea River=Avonmouth, parenthesis London, Danby=London, parenthesis Hull, Agia Marina=Barry, parenthesis London. Ocean Escort: A. Hague names the following escorts (extracted from this list of HX convoy escorts received from D. Kindell; dates are European style, day/month/year): Related external links: Allied warships - More information on the escorts named above can be found by entering the name in the search field. |
