The dates given above are according to German time. "Lloyd's War Losses" gives the date as June 14 for Etrib, Pelayo and Slemdal, and June 15 for the other 2 vessels.

Notes:
"Convoy Rescue Ships", Arnold Hague says that the Rescue Vessel Copeland was also in this convoy. She was on her 18th voyage as such, having started this voyage from Clyde on May 21-1942 with Convoy OG 84 - to Gibraltar June 2, returning to Clyde with HG 84 June 10-June 20.

Following the 1st attack by U-552 (in which Slemdal, Etrib and Pelayo were sunk), she rescued 27 survivors from Pelayo, some from the water, others from rafts. She subsequently found a lifeboat from Slemdal, recovering 17 of her 37 survivors - the others were picked up by the escorting HMS Marigold. Returning to the convoy, Copeland reported the presence of a U-boat to HMS Marigold. During the 2nd attack by U-552, in which City of Oxford and Thurso were sunk, Copeland picked up 41 of the 43 survivors from City of Oxford, while Marigold rescued Thurso's survivors.

Etrib, on a voyage from Carthagena and Gibraltar for Liverpool with 2014 tons apricot pulp, 238 tons wine, 20 tons tartrate and cork, had a crew of 32, 6 gunners and 2 D.B.S. (previously torpedoed seamen), 4 died.

Pelayo, on a voyage from Gibraltar to Swansea with 755 tons Government stores and scrap iron, had a crew of 36. On board were also the Commodore and 5 staff as well as 5 gunners - 16 died.

City of Oxford, voyaging from Lisbon for Garston with 2000 tons ore and 300 tons cork, had a crew of 38 and 6 gunners - 1 died.

Thurso, on a voyage from Lisbon and Gibraltar for Liverpool with 850 tons cork and general, and 1500 bags of mail for German POW's in Britian, had a crew of 36 and 6 gunners - 13 died.
