CONVOY CU 56
Departed New York on Jan. 26-1945 and arrived Liverpool on Febr. 5.
Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 39 ships in this convoy.

See also Ships in all CU convoys (includes tonnage of each ship, and year built), and Escorts for all CU convoys.

Since CU 55, the eastbound Convoy HX 334 had sailed.

Transcribed from documents received from Tony Cooper, England.
His source: Public Records Office, Kew.

These ships were American, except where otherwise noted.

Notes:
Comparing the above to a list of ships received from D. Kindell, based on Arnold Hague's research, I find that A. Hague has not included Robin Tuxford in this convoy.

As can be seen by following the link provided within the above table, Mauvilla is listed as bound from Casablanca to Naples in Convoy UGS 71 - however, she's also listed in Convoy UC 52B (see ships in all UC convoys), which had arrived New York from the U.K. on Jan. 23-1945. I'm not entirely sure that she could have had time to travel to Casablanca to join UGS 71 from there - perhaps she joined from its starting point, Hampton Roads, on Jan. 28? (She returned to the U.S. with Convoy GUS 73 at the end of Febr.-1945 - external link).

Commodore was in General T. H. Bliss.

No further details are available on this convoy.

Escorts (Received from Don Kindell - His source: The late Arnold Hague's database):
USS Clarence L. Evans
USS Clark
USS Daniel
USS Edsall
USS Forster
USS Hissem
USS Price
USS Stewart
USS Stockdale
USS Strickland

They all joined on Jan. 26-1945 and left Febr. 5.
