 Notes:

As will be seen when going to Page 1 of the archive documents, Nidareid was in New Orleans when war broke out in Norway on Apr. 9-1940, departing that day for Tampa, where she arrived Apr. 13, proceeding to Kingston, Jamaica 2 days later. Her 1941 voyages also start on this document and continue on Page 2, which also has some of her 1942 voyages, while the rest are shown on Page 3. It'll be noticed, when going to the latter page, that she appears to have spent quite a long time* in New Orleans, where she had arrived on Febr. 10-1943. Departure is given as Apr. 22, when she proceeded to San Juan, P.R., via Key West and Guantanamo Bay.

*According to Robert Cressman ("The Official Chronology of the U.S. Navy in World War II" - ref. external link at the end of this page) Nidareid was involved in a collision with the American freighter Norwalk north of Cuba, 28 18N 80 00W on Jan. 10-1943 - perhaps Nidareid had required some repairs following this collision? The American ship sank with the loss of 1 of her 30 crew. Charles Hocking (see My sources) also mentions this incident, adding that it happened about 50 miles north of Sagua la Grande and that Norwalk sank in over 100 fathoms. Going back to Page 3, we learn that Nidareid had left Jacksonville for Nicaro (Cuba) on Jan. 5. She stopped at Tanamo, but arrival there is not given. Left Tanamo on the 30th for Key West, then proceeded to Tampa and from there on to New Orleans, with arrival Febr. 10, as mentioned.

 POST WAR:

Page 7 shows her voyages to Apr.-1946. Sold to China that same year and renamed Way Tung.
