Owner: Skips-A/S Oljetransport Delivered in March-1938 from NV Scheepsbouwwerf de Groot & van Vliet, Slikkerveer (216) as Lind to Skips-A/S Oljetransport (A/S Rederiet Odfjell), Bergen. 461 gt, 186 net, 600 tdwt, 168.3' x 25.9' x 10', 8 cyl. 4 T single acting DM (Khd A/G, Köln), 500 bhp. According to R. W. Jordan, she was Managed by Anglo-American Oil Co. Ltd., London during the war (following breakout from Sweden?).
Lind was one of the well known "Kvarstad"-ships that attempted to break out of Sweden on March 31/April 1-1942 following a long court case there. Only 2 out of a total of 10 ships involved managed to reach their destination, Lind being one of them (Operation Performance, Sir George Binney). Sold in the summer of 1947 and renamed St. Guenole for Cie. Des Transportes Maritime de Goudron, Paris. Ran aground on Nov. 1-1948, voyage Nantes-Irvine. Also, the company had a tanker named Lind delivered to them in 1949, 1219 gt. Sold to France that same year and renamed Zit. Sailed as Italian Zitmar from 1957, Stella di Lipari from 1982. Yet another Lind, also a tanker, was delivered to the company in 1950, 1250 gt. Sold to Brasil in 1959 and renamed Amazonia. Another Lind, 1855 gt, was delivered in 1960. Later names: Porto de Aviero 1968 (Lisbon), Porto Leone 1978 (Piræus), Somcol 1 1981 (still Greek). Sank off Jeddah in Sept.-1985.
