 Some Convoy Voyages:
For information on her other voyages, please see the documents received from the Norwegian archives and A. Hague's Voyage Record above (though the latter is incomplete). Follow the convoy links provided for more details on them, several Norwegian ships took part.

A. Hague has included Kongshavn in Convoy HN 12 from Norway to the U.K. in the middle of Febr.-1940. He says she returned to Norway early in March with Convoy ON 17, and later that month she's listed in the original Advance Sailing Telegram for Convoy HN 21 from Norway, cargo of cod roe for Concarneau. Arrival there is not known, but according to Page 1, she left Concarneau again on Apr. 6 and arrived Plymouth the next day.

Skipping now to Febr.-1942, when I have her in Convoy RU 12 from Reykjavik to the U.K. Her destination is given as Hull. According to Page 4 of the archive documents, she arrived Scrabster on Febr. 21, before proceeding to Hull, where she arrived (via Methil Roads) on Febr. 24 - see Page 5.

Gunners for a while were Gunnar Jakobsen and Arne Albrigsten who had previously escaped from Norway with Hornfjell.

Kongshavn took part in the Normandy invasion in June-1944, arriving on the 10th and leaving on the 14th, according to "Nortraships flåte".

It looks like she finally got to go home to Norway at the end of 1945, making a couple of more voyages home in 1946 - see Page 17.

 POST WAR:

Sold in 1952 to Istanbul and renamed Kilimli. Broken up in the beginning of the 1960's.

Back to Kongshavn on the "Ships starting with K" page.

Other ships by this name: The company's 1st Kongshavn was originally delivered as Galveston to G. M. Bryde, Christiania in Sept.-1903, 1254 gt. Purchased by D/S A/S Norhaug (M. H. Kongshavn), Haugesund in July-1915 and renamed Kongshavn. Run into by the Swedish D/S Jane of Gefle on Febr. 1-1917 while anchored up in the Downs on a voyage Newcastle-Rouen with coal. The 3rd Kongshavn was originally delivered as Atle Jarl in Oct.-1919 to Det Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskab, Trondheim - follow the link to more info.
