 Some Convoy Voyages:
For information on voyages made in between those mentioned here, please see the documents received from the Norwegian archives and A. Hague's Voyage Record above (though the latter is incomplete).

According to Page 1 of the archive documents, Kolsdal was on her way from New York to Havana when war broke out in Norway on Apr. 9-1940. As can be seen, she later headed to the U.K. (from Sydney, C.B.) at the end of May - I have no convoy information for this voyage.

Together with the Norwegian Havørn and Lisbeth, she's listed in Convoy OB 196, originating in Liverpool on Aug. 10-1940, dispersed Aug. 15 - ref. external link within Voyage Record. Her destination is given as Sydney, C.B. (Cape Breton), where she arrived on Aug. 26, having started out from Clyde on the 11th. She returned to the U.K. the following month with the slow Convoy SC 4, which had a large number of Norwegian ships; follow the link for more details. Kolsdal was bound for Blyth with a cargo of lumber, arriving her destination on Oct. 6.

She was otherwise mostly in service around the U.K.

At the end of Sept.-1941, A. Hague has included her among the ships in the westbound North Atlantic Convoy ON 21, which originated in Liverpool on Sept. 28; strangely, her destination is given as Liverpool. According to Page 3 of the documents received from the Norwegian archives, she arrived Manchester on Sept. 29/30 (having started out from Milford Haven on the 27th), proceeding to Holyhead a few days later, with arrival there Oct. 3. Kolsdal's listing in this convoy seems odd. The Norwegian Bello (returned), Brisk, Hallanger, Lyra, Nueva Granada (returned) and Taborfjell are also listed in ON 21, which will be added to an individual page in my Convoys section; in the meantime, the ships sailing in it are named on this page.

She was one of the many Norwegian ships taking part in Operation Neptune in June-1944, arriving Omaha Beach on June 11, according to "Nortraships flåte".

As will be seen when going to Page 15, she got to go home to Norway already in June-1945 - see also Page 16, which shows another voyage to Norway in Nov.-1945. Page 17 indicates she went home again in Jan.-1946.

 POST WAR:

Renamed Lindhaug in 1946, in seasonal lumber trade in the White Sea. Sold in 1966 to Petras Bros, Piraeus, renamed Maria. Delivered to Greek breakers 1969.
