Otterpool - For Aalesund, arrived Dec. 8, then to Narvik with arrival Dec. 11. Listed as returning to the U.K. with the 2nd Narvik-Methil convoy on Dec. 18 (as are Fylingdale, Santa Clara Valley and Baron Kelvin).

Comparing the above with a list of ships in ON 4 received from Don Kindell, based on A. Hague's own database, I find that A. Hague has also added Baron Ruthven, with a note saying "probably joined this convoy". He has not, however, included Carperby in this convoy, but in the next convoy, ON 5. (Baron Ruthven is also listed in the 2nd Narvik-Methil convoy).

Note that a document listing all the ON convoys states that ON 4 had a total of 7 ships.

Notes:
In 61 39N 03 13E, at 01:00 on Dec. 8 the ships were ordered to turn 80° together. Earlier the previous evening the wind had freshened from the south and some ships were having difficulty after the turn had been made, so speed was reduced as much as possible, but at dawn all the ships were missing. When a search to northward did not find them, the escort vessels set a course to pick up the returning Convoy HN 4, having reached the conclusion that all the ships of ON 4 must have continued eastward and made territorial waters north of Aspø fjord on their own.
