British Eskdene - for Hull (from Bergen). Became detached from convoy in fog between 19:30 on Dec. 1 and 05:00 Dec. 2 and later reported having struck a mine. However, she had, in fact, been torpedoed by U-56. (For further details, see Uboat.net's info on this incident - external link). It's also mentioned on my page about Rudolf (in my text about the Swedish Rudolf).
Additionally, a document received from D. Kindell (based on Arnold Hague's research) also lists the British Albionic in this convoy. This ship is not mentioned in a report by HMS Eskimo (Commander J. A. Micklethwait), dated Dec. 4-1949. I have Albionic in the next convoy, HN 4.
HN 3 was dispersed off Methil Roads at 02:50 on Dec. 3.
Escorts:
HMS Eskimo (S.O.), Matabele, Icarus and Ilex (which had also escorted the outbound Convoy ON 3). For additional info, see this document, listing escorts for all HN and ON convoys.
