Convoy HG 56 Cruising Order
Departed Gibraltar at 16:00 on March 14-1941 and arrived Liverpool on Apr. 2
(Arnold Hague says 25 ships, departure March 15).

Additionally, the Rescue Vessel Zaafaran was with this convoy for while. She was on her first voyage as such, and had started this voyage from Clyde with Convoy OB 301 on March 23-1941, remaining with this convoy until dispersed March 27, then joined HG 56 that same day to return to Clyde (March 31).


Notes:
Commodore Vice Admiral A. C. Strutt(?) was in Lech, Vice Commodore was the captain of Baron Haig, T. Hewitt.

Average speed: 6 knots.

Escorts mentioned:
HMS Kenya, HMS Folkestone, HMS Olympus, HMS Velox, Verbena(?), Geranium, Legion, Piorun, Leopard(?), illegible (looks like Suntra or similar), Mallow, Violet, Arabis(?), Sardonyx?, Burwell, Waterman, Fleetwood and 2 trawlers.
