Notes:
There's a note re Merkland on Page 1 of the AST saying: "this ship now bound from New York to Virginia". This would indicate she could not have been in Convoy HGF 34(?).

Tudor was sunk by U-48 on June 19 - see my page about M/S Tudor for more info on her loss.

Baron Loudoun, on a voyage from Bona for Barrow with 5050 tons of iron ore, was sunk by U-48 on June 19. She had a crew of 33, 3 o whom died.

British Monarch, on a voyage from Bougie for Glasgow with 8200 tons of iron ore, was also sunk on June 19 by U-48. She had a crew of 39 and 1 gunner - there were no survivors.

Otterpool, on a voyage from Bona for Middlesbrough with 8180 tons of iron ore, was sunk on June 20 by U-30. She had a crew of 38, including 1 gunner, 22 crew and the gunner died.

Jürgen Rohwer says in a footnote for June 20, "U-51 reported 2 explosions after the attacks on Andalusian (identified as the Fellside by the xB-dienst) and the Otterpool, but no other effect on the ships. The BdU assumed that there had been hits on both ships, according to the xB-Dienst reports. The Otterpool was actually sunk in the evening by U-30".

According to a personal story found in a Norwegian magazine, Kollskegg left the convoy after a British ship had been sunk and continued alone at full speed, the captain being severely reprimanded on arrival Falmouth for going against orders, though they had arrived safely with 15 000 tons oil. (All the Norwegian ships listed in this convoy are discussed on this website - see alphabet index at the end of this page).
