Notes: Commodore Rear Admiral J. C. Hamilton, R.N.R. was in Clan Macpherson, Vice Commodore was Captain F. J. Goodchild of British Duchess. Average speed: 8 knots. Departure was delayed 1 hour due to late arrival of Weirbank, and convoy sailed from position off Gibraltar at 16:00 on the 13th. A possible "contact" was reported by Walpole in the afternoon of Jan. 20 and an emergency turn 90° to starboard was performed, but later reported to be "non-submarine". Weirbank parted company for Panama at 03:45 on Jan. 15 in 36 02N 12 12W. British Duchess, Cedardale and Kars parted company for west coast ports at 17:00 on Jan. 6 in 48 22N 9 22W (another document says west coast ships parted company at 17:00 on Jan. 20, escorted by Walpole and Walker).
