This vessel left Kleppestø in Åskøy on March 8-1941, and was to pick up another group of escapees near Hjelteskæret in Fjell, before continuing west. However, when this latter group was boarding, they were pulled on board by German soldiers, having been betrayed by someone on board. Those who had planned to escape with Norge I were taken to court and sentenced to 3 - 8 years. In the same case, radio operator Erling Marthinsson got his first death sentence, having sent a message with one of the escapees proving that he had a radio transmitter. He escaped shortly thereafter from Ulven concentration camp and managed to get to England. Returned the following year, only to get arrested again, sentenced to death and executed. The others in the so called "Hjelteskjer case" were Ragnar Haugland, Sigmunn Husdal, Nils Kleppe, Per Lygren, Odd Mjelde, Rolf Mjelde, Henry Hansen Seterstøl, Bjørn Simonnæs, Hermann Steinfeldt, Ragnar Vik, John Zakkariassen, Trygve Olsen and Salamon Thorsen.
