Wedding Album
Page 4

Something old, not much new,
but a lot of homemade and quite a bit of blue!

Carleen's and Mike's baby shoes were used as part of the table decorations.
The lodge, where we had the reception was not air conditioned! Our homemade paper fans were not perfect, but in 90° +, they were better than nothing.
The place cards were made out of a branch from our River Birch that broke following an ice storm earlier this year. Mike and Carl cut them, Carleen decorated them. Little sticks were glued to the back to make them stand up.
We made "party favors" out of tiny flower pots containing "Hugs & Kisses" chocolates, with a tag attached saying "Hugs & Kisses from the Mr. & Mrs". Family members and bridal party got "special" tags. They also got Forget-Me-Not seeds.

On tag for Carleen (text chosen by me):
May the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past.
For Mike (text chosen by me):
May your heart be light and happy, May your smile be big and wide, and may your pockets always have a coin or two inside!

For Mike’s mom (chosen by me):
Mothers hold their children's hands for awhile, their hearts forever.
For Mike’s sister (chosen by Mike):
May the roof above you never fall in, and those gathered beneath it never fall out.

For Mike's dad and for Carl (chosen by me):
May I see you gray and combing your grandchildren’s hair.
For Mitch (chosen by me):
May you get all your wishes but one, so that you will always have something to strive for!

For best man and groomsmen (chosen by Mike):
May you always have a clean shirt, a clear conscience, and enough coins in your pocket to buy a pint!
(Mike's best man, Brian Marshall on the left, Brian Smith on the right)
.
Mike's forlover til venstre.

For maid of honor Crystal (chosen by Carleen):
Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
For bridesmaid Olivia (chosen by Carleen):
What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.

At each place setting we also had a "scroll", with some information on the origins of misc. wedding customs (the origins of the veil, the gown, the garter, the ring, the bridal shower etc. etc.). Each guest also got a printed copy of what was said during the wedding ceremony.

Basket (made by mom) to hold the birdseed bags (made by Carleen and Mike) that were handed out to each guest before the ceremony. Small bells were given to each guest as the bride and groom left after the party, and were used to create a little concert, to "ring them off".
The "stem" with flowers on top is a pen (yup, made by mom, to match the guestbook as well as the flower pot party favours - it all seemed to fit in so well up there in the woods).
The ring bearer pillow, the garter and the bride's bag (you guessed it, made by mom).

The back of the pillow and the bottom of the bag. The pillow had an M for Mike, C in the middle for Carleen and an H in the lower right corner for Huxley.
Close-up of bag.

Close up of one of the initials.
En av initialene.

This basket held the utensils for the dinner. The letters in front are just loose (need I say who made them?), and were used to decorate the cake table.
