Hi
Stad Amsterdam was on a Southbound journey when she hit
a mine at 12.30 p.m. on August 25. The ship send out SOS
and the crew went in to the lifeboat. At 4.15 p.m. August 25.
she was sunken by torpedo from one submarine in pos.16*39-
73*15. 3 of the crew was lost. She was not in convoy at the time.
Cargo was 4000 ton general and 300 bag mail.
The Amakura (Capt. Thomas Orford was sunk by submarine
August 25. on a southbound journey in pos.17*40N-75'52 and
she was not in convoy at the time.
Cargo was 2260 ton general inc. drums of acid and 100 bag mail.
