Cadet Holgar Christiansen escaped from Hong Kong on Christmas day with the legendary one legged Chinese Admiral Chan Chak and his party which included my father. Originally on the SS Yatshing he then transferred to the Naval Armament Tug Gatling. Holgar was one of the few survivors after the Gatling was sunk in Aberdeen Harbour by high altitude bombing on 16th Dec 1941. The IJA were targeting HMS Thracian.
