Hello Max,
I also misread your posting. As this forum is primarily concerned with the war at sea 1939/45 maybe sometimes we get a little blinkered.
Thanks to the posting by Roy re MAHRONDA. A photo of the vessel you maybe seeking under the name FRATERNITAS whaling factory ship 8225/1905 in early 1930s and UNIWALECO whaling factory ship 9755/1905 in 1938, '40 & '41 are in the John Marsh Collection.
According to Roger Jordan The World Merchant Fleet 1939/1945.
The UNIWHALECO was built in 1905 by Harland & Wolff Belfast, as the MAHRONDA. 9755grt. 485 X 58.5 X 29.5 X 10.5. SIR JAMES CLARK ROSS 1923 FRATERNITAS 1937
UNIWHALECO was torpedoed by U 161 on 7/3/1942 in position 13. 23N 62 04W 36 dead 50 survivors.
owned at time of loss by UNION WHALING co ltd. Orange Grove buildings, Smith St. Po box 818, Durban, SA.

Roger.
