Thanks Erik - yes that would make sense. But I'm a little unsure of the date, would it take that long (24 days) to get to Bathurst from the point she would have been at the time of leaving the convoy on the 1st? (if I've done the math right, this date was 2 weeks into the journey). Please excuse my ignorance here, remember I'm an amateur with this, and have problems estimating how long it would take to get from one point of the ocean to another. Though come to think of it, Norse King was hit on the evening of the 28th, last seen the next morning. Fana's captain mentions that they discovered this ship was among several ships missing when the day dawned after a round of attacks. Then he says they had passed north of the Azores and were supposed to have left the convoy a long time before that, but were ordered by the escort a couple of days later to depart - so that puts her around Jan. 1. (Just thinking out loud now).
Sorry it took me so long to reply, I've been having cable problems all day and just now got back online (it's almost embarrassing to realize how dependent you become of that Internet connection!)
