My turn again! This forum is sure becoming handy for me too!
I've come across a very interesting article, written by the captain of D/S Fana, which I'm in the process of summarising and adding to my text. But there are a few details in it that confuse me. For instance, he indicates that Fana was in Convoy ON(s) 154 in Dec.-1942. He does not mention the convoy designation, but describes how Norse King disappeared, never to be seen again (which happened while in this convoy).
According to this article the ships in the port column of the convoy were fully laden and were to disperse for ports in Africa at some point; Fana had general cargo and stores for West Africa, first port was to be Bathurst. I've not seen mention anywhere else of this convoy having ships that were going in a different direction, can anyone confirm/disprove this and also confirm whether Fana was indeed in Convoy ON 154? The captain says she was the first ship in column 1, on the convoy's port wing, and due to all the attacks she left the convoy much later than intended, and arrived Bathurst 38 days after departure Liverpool (Dec. 18), being the only vessel to complete the voyage to West Africa. He also claims Ravnefjell was in this convoy, presumably for the U.S.
Has he gotten the various voyages/convoys/dates/incidents mixed up 40 years after the fact, or were these 2 ships in ON 154?
