VULCAN - trawler, ex- Mascot, ex-Aston Villa, purchased 11 July 1936 as a depot ship for coastal forces, being commissioned 7 April 1937.
Sent to Malta, arriving in July 1937. Returned to England in November 1939, being based initially at Portsmouth, then at Felixstowe between Jan. and December 1940. Returned to Mediterranean, in February 1941, initially at Alexandria, then to Benghazi. In May 1944 moved to Brindisi (Italy); Taranto in July 1944; Ancona November 1944; Trieste May 1945; Naples July 1945 and then finally to Malta in November 1945.
Returned to England in 1946 and laid up at Pembroke Dock, sold 5 February 1947 as mercantile 'Fotherby'.

She had been built at Smiths Dock, Middlesborough, in 1933.

reciprocating engines/one boiler/678 ihp = 11 knots
