Florinha & Lindinha

Hello

According to Lloyd's War Losses, the Panamian mv Florinha (515 grt.) and Lindinha (531 grt.) were captured by the Japanese at Fort Bayard on December 20, 1941.
Florinha became Japanese Hokurei Maru which was sunk by a/c on April 9, 1944.
Try to find out more about the Panamian vessels as these ships are not mentioned by Lloyd's Register/Plimsoll, nor Miramar nor Groener's Taschenbuch around that time. So looking for type of vessel, year built, wharf, eventual earlier names etc.
Also if there is any knowledge about the fate/Japanese name of Lindinha that would be appreciated.

It seems both vessels were owned by Altamar, Hong Kong but no other details

I can only offer a couple of tidbits:

21 December 1941:
Departs Canton in convoy escorting seized Panamanian cargo ship FLORINHA (later HOKUREI MARU) and tug LINDINHA (later SANA MARU). The convoy arrives at Hainan Bay later that day at 2210.

What is the significance of "Showa 16"? Perhaps Yard No for builder Showa?
