Re: HMS EMS 2

From the name "EMS 2" perhaps a prize or seized from Germany (or the Danube)?
But not found anything definite.
Do you know what kind of vessel was "F A 2"?

Re: ancient ERIDANO, Bari 1943

Thanks DD. To be honest, I would not surprised at non-mention of an old hulk that had been used as a floating school for some 25 years, unless there had been significant loss of life. But local press or social/municipal history would be more likely to mention it, I think.

Registered Piraeus and then deleted five days later, it seems.

Digging a bit for the origins of this schooner https://www.historisches-marinearchiv.de/projekte/verluste_griechenland/ausgabe.php?where_value=572 This looks to be the one: schooner J. Re: Cia de Nav. Vizcaya

Seems likely Aris. Compañía de Navegación Vizcaya SA had lost ALBIA in September 1929, but were still operating ABANDO. An early 1930s LR List of Owners will show whether ABANDO and RIPA listed together (sorry- none accessible to me at present). RIPA, with that owner, is listed in the online index t...

Re: ancient ERIDANO, Bari 1943

Thanks Aris for noting the possible connection with that dreadful air raid.

I wonder whether there are Italian sources that cover that from the civilian population point of view?

In case it helps, this photo of TORGHATTEN at Brønnøysund is said to be Spring/1944: https://www.flickr.com/photos/arkivinordland/7555224486/ https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:D-S_%22Torghatten%22_ved_kai_(7555224486).jpg And the usually well-researched Sjøhistorie.no has the purchase and rena...

Re: French tug PRESIDENT POINCARE

Thank you Maurice. The location now clear: https://mapcarta.com/18819836 As I have to rely on Mr Google for my German understanding, is this roughly correct? Remarks - On 1.8. (Page 2) In the section for 1/2.8 there is no reference to the sinking of the tug "Poincare", which, after being r...
