Hi all!

New ships, hardly any data.

Can someone give me details such as year of construction, causes of loss, etc. over the following Ships?

Providentia - belgian Trawler - 139 GRT lost 14.07.1940
Fortunato Pio -italian ship lost 21.07.1940 off Libya
San Romolo -italian Trawler lost 29.07.1940 off Tobruk

Many thanks

Hi Sergey,

Providentia (139 GRT/?) was bombed and sunk by German Ju-87 planes 14/7/40 at 49-55N 09-12W. No survivors.
Fortunato Pio (468 GRT/17) sunk 21/7/40 off Libia by marine causes.
San Romolo (171 GRT/98) wrecked 21-22/7/40 at 15 m W of Tobruk. Sunk 29/7/40.

I voice my doubts whether a ship in the open sea south of Ireland and approximately 250 nm distant from the next German (near Brest) airfield was sunk by Ju 87 ... possibly Ju 88 ?

Urs,

Gröner has a statement regarding the Year Built of Providentia?
