Looking for information on my Farfar, Trygg Andersen

My Farfar, my father's father = Grandfather, Trygg Andersen was born February 9, 1912 in Trondheim, Norway.

I found records that he served as a cook onboard G.C.Brovig, hired in London May 1942, too at least June 30, 1944. Then was hired as a cook on M/S Ogna August 1944 and served at least to March 11, 1946.

I was told that he started young as a seaman, but have not found any records of what ships he worked on. The information that Trygg was onboard when his ships were torpedoed, three times, one time he was suppose to be the only survivor, has been part of the family legend.

After world war II he settled in New York, but my grandmother refused to move there from Bergen Norway. My father tracked him down in the early 1970's, and confirmed that Trygg Andersen suffered from PTSD.

Any suggestions where I may find any more information on my Farfar?
