The "Elmshorn" was a motor cargo ship built by D. W. Kremer Sohn for Reederei Walter Joch K.-G., Hamburg. Dimensions 63.91 x 9.89 m.
After the Second World War she was transferred to the USSR and renamed "Krasnodon". On passage from the Baltic to the Black Sea in May-June 1946 she called at Hull (6-19/5), Gibraltar (26/5-1/6), and Istanbul (10-11/6), and at that time was reported as being of 819 BRT.
She was registered at Zhdanov, and reportedly foundered off Sochi 10/7/59.
Information partly from my own records, partly from Yu. N. Trifonov and I. V. Parolov, "Morskoy flot SSSR: trofei i reparatsii", vol. ii (Moscow & Archangel, 2013), 41.
