Hi Guys
I'm looking for more info on the SS CLEADON.
The CLEADON (I.D. No.5613143) was an iron-hulled 760-ton steam passenger/cargo vessel. W. Watson built her at the Pallion yard, Sunderland as Yard No.406 and launched her on the 7th January 1871 The single iron four-bladed propeller was powered by a 2-cylinder compound steam engine that used one boiler and gave 8-knots.
Lambton Collieries Ltd., Sunderland owned her at the time of loss.
Final voyage:
On Wednesday morning, 31st August 1904, the CLEADON was en-route from Aberdeen to Sunderland when she was in collision with the Nowegian registered steamer DAGNE.
Any more info on her owners, engine and dimensions etc., will be much appreciated ?
Cheers Ron
