Hallo Max and Maurice.
When the Norwegian-Chilean whaling-manager Adolf Amandus Andresen died in 1940, a local Norwegian newspaper wrote an obituary on him. Here we can read:
"After his 1914 whaling enterprise with the factory-ship ORION, (Andresen) returned from Chile to England with his whale-oil cargo. ORION was soon after sold to Bergen (Norway). The whalers went probably to Italy."
These whalers were:
CORRAL ex NJÀLL, built Nylands mek. Verksted, Kristiania in March 1911, 137 grt and
NORUEGA ex RONASHILL, built Framnæs mek Verksted, Sandefjord in May 1908 (No. 74), 121 grt.
According to The Norwegian Veritas Shipping Register we can find all three ships in the 1915 and 1916 issues. In 1917 only CORRAL and NORUEGA. ORION was then sold to the Bergen-company and sunk by a German submarine during this same year.
I have often been wondering were the two whalers actually went. The newspaper-obituary gives only a slight indication "probably went to Italy".
When Maurice gives the information CAPODOGLIO ex Norwegian fishing boat NORUEGA, this might probably be the whaler NORUEGA. (Chilean of course).
Perhaps a trace to follow to find out were NORUEGA/RONASHILL and probably also NJÀLL/CORRAL actually went.
