I have seen reports (secondary sources only) that a "HARACHI MARU" was sunk on 24/1/1944, but in the same position of 21.33N 112.00E.

Could this be the source of confuson over the Japanese name for FROSTY MOLLER?

Incidentally, it would not be surprising that she she was identified as a "freighter" rather than "tug" - she was built as a combination tug-tender for the Bluff Harbour Board, New Zealand, with high topsides, not the low freeboard typical of a normal tug.

Happy New Year to all WarSailors

David
